Love these pictures from an article I came across of Marilyn Monroe. These photos of Marilyn at the age of 24 have just been released, such beautiful photos right? Seeing these photos along with some sunny weather in London this morning is making feel really excited for spring and also an exciting trip to Vietnam in March! I have already brought my 50s inspired swimwear for the beach :)

Train journeys
Train journeys filled with views of beautiful English countryside inspire me greatly. Living in London over the last six months makes me appreciate these sights even more! These photos were captured on my iphone from some recent trips up north. I feel very peaceful looking at these photos :)

This would be nice...
How cool would it be to own a bike made from your own name? I'm really liking this concept by graphic designer Juri Zaech :)

Pom pom circus
Seeing these images from the Pom Pom Factory has certainly brightened up my monday morning. All these colours made me smile. It's been a beautiful hot weekend here in London and the sun is still shining strongly. I think I may have to take the afternoon off to soak up some more of this sunshine while it lasts! Good weekend?

What we wore: A trip to the Albert Docks
Saturday's sky was grey here in Liverpool but we still had a really fun day! We had lots of much needed sleep followed by brunch (eggs in basket, smoked bacon and tomatoes and lots of coffee) then a stroll down to the Albert docks. It's quite touristy on a saturday but this didn't bother us too much. We kind of captured the stroll in these photographs, with some liverpool street art, cafe 36, the one centre (with cherry blossom now in bloom!), and finally the Albert dock itself.
We had a look around the tate gallery... with a fair amount of time spent reading through all the creative books in the gallery shop. I purchased this fantastic children's book for myself Around the world with mouk, this book has really inspired me! We then bought sweets in the quay confectionery shop and headed back into town. The day ended with yummy burgers at Gourmet burger and beers at Leaf cafe. I also wore my hair in milkmaid braids for the first time ever! Check Tick Tock vintage for a great tutorial.
Sunday was spent working on our new website followed by an evening watching Cleopatra in tribute of the wonderful Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor. How did you spend your weekend?

Fashion wheel Lookbook and fun illustrations
More of Tia's sketches
Whilst trying to organize my desktop the other day I came across a folder of sketches, and a fashion wheel look book me and my gorgeous niece 'Tia' worked on a few years back. They put a huge smile on my face! I love the spontaneity of children's drawings, and of course the choice of rainbow colours! I must admit I do enjoy playing fashion wheel, just as much as I did when I was a kid!

Suno Fall 2011
So NY fashion week is nearly drawing to an end. It's been a busy week for us but I've managed to look through most of the new collections coming through for Fall 2011. I find it quite hectic taking in everything all at once, so I tend to take a rough look through each day, focusing on my favorites. So far Suno has really grabbed my attention as well as Anna Sui; an all time favorite and inspiration of mine. I just love this collection! I am a print designer so the mixed prints, amazing colour palettes and embroideries just do it for me!
Below is a sneak peek of Suno's trend boards from vogue.com, a feature called "first look" where designers talk about their inspiration, and offer us a glance into their creative process.
Erin Beatty and Max Osterweis - the geniuses behind Suno describe there collection as being "inspired by old ladies" with Iris Apfel and Gitte-Lee as their muse in mind. There were lots of layered mixed prints, plaid mohair cape coats (with an English countryside accent) and amazing beaded kaftans... gorgeous!
There are still more collections for me to look through but I was too excited not to post about this one. Any favorites so far?... or any you can recommend to take a good look through? I'm looking forward to see what London fashion week brings next!

Dreaming of a summer holiday...
With Christmas a long forgotten memory, and now into the 2nd month of the new year; man are we missing summer! Don't know about you guys but we are pining for a holiday. These are some snaps from ours in Bali last year we wanted to share with you.
We felt we needed to go somewhere far away from England, somewhere tropical - a different culture. It was our first time to Asia, and Indonesia is certainly different from the UK!
The Balinese people are a peaceful Hindu culture who carry out rituals and offerings to their gods and ancestors. For example; we had just been to bathe in a luxurious natural volcanic spa high up in the mountains of the island... It was a real eye-opener when we we stumbled upon a mass village migration. Our guide told us when someone died in the village every member of the community would come for support and to pay respect. The sense of society and change of perspective we saw throughout our trip was wonderful & refreshing.
Bali is a magical, colourful and exotic place. Full of culture, their own art & crafts, balmy hot tropical weather and fantastic wildlife. Lizards, birds, monkeys, turtles & dolphins are some of the animals naturally indiginous to the island.
We loved our time there and would recommend it if you wanted this type of holiday. Hope everyone's having a good weekend!
