Over Christmas...

Hope you've all had an amazing christmas? We had a pretty busy one which involved lots of traveling and train journeys. Our first stop was Birmingham to visit my gorgeous niece and nephew Brandon and Talayah, which involved a fun day at Sea World with sharks and giant turtles. We then visited Ross's family for a cosy gift exchange and christmas meal.

Next stop was down south to Poole, where we settled for the christmas period with my brother and his beautiful family. I have two nieces Tia (8) and Layla (1)... They kept us very amused despite Ross and I catching flu :( I mainly wore comfy clothes over christmas as I was so ill, but I did make good use of my new vintage tapestry bag which im in love with. Its the perfect traveling bag, big enough to hold all your essentials. Good news is we have lots of similar bags which we will be adding to our store in January.

We're now recuperating in Liverpool and kind of having a second christmas at home, which is nice. We opened each others presents yesterday and are going to spend today watching old christmas movies.

New year will be a quiet one for us as were still shifting our horrible flu. Any big plans for anyone ?
We wish you all a happy new year ... and look forward to connecting with you in 2011!

Rooftop Sunset...

We managed to catch this beautiful winter sunset on our rooftop and thought we'd take a few pictures. I always love when the sunlight is this colour, it's my favourite part of the day. Although it's freezing cold at the moment, one thing that's cool about winter is you get to wear loads of layers! Last weekend we went on a vintage treasure hunt around Liverpool and I was really lucky to come across this suede jacket with sheepskin lining - amazing find for me! I needed a cosy winter coat. :)

I'm really feeling the Christmas spirit this weekend!
We bought a little Christmas tree and took him home with us and picked some more trimmings. After that, we were so hungry we went down to the Christmas markets in Liverpool and bought Wild Boar, Ostrich burgers and Bratwurst hot dogs. Mmm! Then headed home and put up the decorations whilst drinking bailey's and eating mince pies.

We took these pictures the day after another photoshoot, so loads of new listings coming very soon!

Snowfall

These beautiful photos were taken on my train journey from Nottingham to Liverpool. Snow and countryside just looks so magical. Although we have had no snow in Liverpool, At least I was able to enjoy a weekend of it and absorb this amazing scenery.

Hope your having a fabulous weekend ? We have chosen our christmas tree from a local market which were going to decorate today, whilst drinking mulled wine and sampling our first mince pie of the year !

Japanese works of art...

Recently I discovered http://www.yorkeantiquetextiles.com the most amazing online archive, showcasing and selling vintage and antique textiles from around the world. As a print designer myself I am always seeking new inspiration for my own work.

I have always been drawn to Japanese culture and art from the past and present, so I was pretty excited to look through the large and wonderful Japanese section. Here are a few beautiful pieces that caught my eye. They are original water colour paper designs created 1920-40 which were used for silk kimonos.

There are so many stunning pieces that will be sure to brighten up your day or inspire your own work. If your a textile lover I would recommend you have a look :)

A weekend in Nottingham...

Dress: Vintage
Boots: Vintage
Tights: Topshop

I left busy Ross at home and took a trip to Nottingham over the weekend for some family time with my mum, sister Sam, her fiance mark and their gorgeous dog Betty. My Sister and Mark have an amazing three stories house full of vintage treasures... I couldn't help photographing !

My sister is due to give birth at the end of december so we had a pretty relaxing weekend, eating nice food, chatting lots and looking through all their adorable baby items. Im very excited to be an auntie again to my fourth nephew or niece? I also got to wear one of my new vintage dress's saturday as we went out for dinner. Ive been wanting to wear it for a while, I love the colour, the scalloped detail and the cute peter pan collar.

I took some beautiful scenic pictures on my train journey back to Liverpool which I will share with you during the week. The untouched snow looked so beautiful in the English countryside. Im really feeling the christmas sprit now! Hope you all had a great weekend ?

It Happened One Night (1934)

Gable shows exactly how to dunk a donut.

The famous "Wall of Jericho."

Here's a classic great romantic old movie from filmmaker Frank Capra ( It's a wonderful life - which is one of the most christmassy films ever! and a personal favourite of mine ) - starring hollywood legend Clarke Gable and Claudette Colbert.

We saw this last night and loved it!

Made in 1934 this film was the first to win all 5 major Academy awards - which wouldn't be matched until 1975 with 'One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest.'

Rich heiress Ellie Andrews (Claudette Colbert) is spoiled, but trapped and lost through her over protective Millionaire banker father. To spite her father it seems, she agrees to marry 'King' Westley a dasterdly golddigger. Whilst on board her fathers ship; frustrated and bewildered - in an dramatic effort to escape she leaps overboard. The chase begins! Her father launches detectives, police, and the press after his wild daughter whom he loves desparately.

Meanwhile cocky Peter Warren (Gable) - a newspaper man from New York quits his job and gives his old boss a piece of his mind. Out of work and lost also he takes a bus and bumps into brattish Ellie. The rest is a wonderful story (won't spoil any more!) that climaxes in a tense but heartwarming way.

I'm really getting into Clarke Gable films, we saw Mogambo ( Ava Gardner, Grace Kelly ) the other night - which is also amazing. It's great to see the young Gable playing opposite Gamin like Colbert.
A must see film for old movie lovers everywhere. Enjoy!!

p.s. If you do get a chance to see it (or have already seen) - Could you recommend anything? or tell is your favourite bits? :)
